Keeping Outdoor Pavers, Concrete & Decking Clean in Fiji’s Climate

Outdoor areas are a big part of everyday living in Fiji, from patios and driveways to pool areas and decks. But with frequent rain, humidity and surrounding greenery, these surfaces can quickly build up dirt, mould and slippery algae. A simple deep clean every few months can make a big difference.

1. Start with a Good Sweep

Before washing anything, remove loose dirt, leaves and debris using a broom or blower. Organic matter holds moisture, which encourages moss and mould growth, a common issue in tropical weather.

2. Wash Away Built-Up Grime

Once the loose dirt is gone, a pressure washer can make quick work of grime on hard surfaces. This image shows the same patio being pressure-washed.

3. Tackle Slippery Green Growth

For areas with persistent algae or mould, a good scrub with a cleaner is often necessary. Here, a person is scrubbing a patch of slippery green growth.

4. Cleaning Timber & Composite Decking

Wooden decking requires a gentler touch. This image shows a person using a soft brush and soapy water on a timber deck.
